Is a normal butt lift the same as a Brazilian butt lift?

While a “Brazilian butt lift” adds volume to the buttocks via injections (using the patient’s own fat), a regular butt lift is different and not to be confused with its Brazilian counterpart. Otherwise known as gluteoplasty, a “butt lift” is performed to lift and tighten up the skin of the buttocks. The operating surgeon’s job is to remove excess tissue for a more youthful appearance.

Will the results be as expected?

This all depends on what you are expecting. It’s important to be aware that butt lift surgery may flatten out the buttocks more than you might think, in which case the surgeon could perform the butt lift in unison with another augmentation procedure such as fat grafting. Regardless, a butt lift may be the solution for you if you have excessive amounts of loose, hanging skin around the buttocks, back, and upper thighs. Butt lifts have also been shown to improve the appearance of cellulite or skin elasticity issues relating to extreme weight loss or age.

How do I know if I am a candidate for a butt lift?

While small amounts of fat may be removed with your excess skin, the goal isn’t to remove large fat deposits. That’s why you’ll need to be as close to your ideal weight as possible before booking your butt lift surgery. There are some other candidate requirements you’ll need to take into account too:

  • Non-smoker
  • Must be in general good health
  • Must maintain a stable weight
  • Commitment to a healthy lifestyle and diet
  • Must have realistic expectations and a positive outlook

Pre and post-operative guidelines

Your surgeon will likely request lab tests before the operation to confirm that you are in healthy shape for surgery. He or she will also need to know if you’re taking any medications, some of which they may request that you stop in the weeks leading up to the surgery. Certain medications such as anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin, and even herbal supplements can negatively interact with the procedure. This is why it’s critically important that you be honest with your surgeon to protect your own well-being.

When it comes to recovery, it’s best not to sit on your buttocks for at least 7 days. You could stand or lie on your stomach instead. Most patients find that they are able to return to normal physical activity after two weeks.

I had my Brazilian Butt Lift 6 months ago with Healiumhealth and I couldn’t be any happier with my results. My butt and hips look SO natural – my only regret was not doing it sooner!
